Academic Curriculum

Academic Curriculum

We believe that the fundamental knowledge and skills contained within the National Curriculum give children an excellent foundation for learning, but that a school’s Academic Curriculum needs to go way beyond this.

Our highly qualified and dedicated teaching team ensure that every subject is taught to an excellent standard and with the same high expectations for all pupils, regardless of background or circumstance.

The curriculum is not however confined to the classroom, it encompasses every aspect our children experience whilst being a member of our community.

Through our curriculum we develop six carefully selected character traitsbravery, citizenship, curiosity, gratitude, integrity, kindness – that we believe will allow our children to succeed in their future of choice. These character traits are embedded within our curriculum through our bookshelves, PSHE curriculum, assemblies, systems and practices.

Reading is at the heart of our curriculum and termly Curriculum Bookshelves are thoughtfully curated to immerse pupils in subject-specific learning, whilst deepening their understanding of our character traits within different contexts at different stages of their primary education.

Our bookshelves include a diverse selection of books that are linked to the UN Rights of the Child Convention and allow links to be made across different curriculum areas.
